Register on event day for $10, cash only. Registration opens at 8 a.m. (Online registration is now closed)


The 18th annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals kicks off in San Diego at Qualcomm Stadium. The top sixteen dogs from the qualifying round will advance to the San Diego final at the Del Mar Race Track. The top dog from San Diego will advance to the championship at the Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade.

This year’s finalists will receive the opportunity to march with the Wienerschnitzel float in the nationally televised parade.

Any dachshund may participate!

Calling all of San Diego’s Best Dressed Daschunds! After the first round of races, we will have a runway costume contest and feature dogs in the following categories:
    Miss/Mr. Wienerschnitzel – Best use of Wienerschnitzel logo, colors and spirit
    Best Dressed – Red Carpet ready. Jackets required, pocket squares optional
    Funniest – Make us laugh out loud
    Most Creative – No one saw this costume coming!

Entries into the costume contest and category choice (only one) will be done from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on event day.

Admission to the event is free to humans and non-racing dogs.

T-Shirts are for the owners (not the dogs!), and sizes are not guaranteed.

Vendor Opportunities

The Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals accept vendors with animal related causes and products. In order to view the races, all dogs and their owners must walk through vendor village. This year’s event is expected to draw more than 300 dachshunds and their owners from all around Southern California. Races are free for dog rescue organizations. No human food vendors please.
